The countertop is a classic type of bathroom sink that seems to be used in a very large number of households. The nice thing about this specific type of unit is that since it sits on your countertop, there seems to be an extra variety of different types to choose from regarding the size and shape of unit you choose as well as the placement of the sink.
Size - Depending on the size of the countertop in your bathroom, you can choose a sink that is as big or as small as you like. Most oftentimes you don't see one that is very large, but it is possible to choose a large bathroom sink if your countertop allows for it. Another choice regarding the size of your sink if you are looking for a larger size sink but don't want it to look awkward is to put two sinks. This can have a great versatility in that you can have two people brushing their teeth or washing their hands at the same time, or you can create a his and hers look in your bathroom.
Shape - There are several different shapes to choose from when picking out your new bathroom sink. You can go for a square look, or an oval look, or a round look, etc. Since the unit is recessed into the countertop, almost any shape can be made flush with the counter top. The only shape that would probably not work very well for this type of unit is an organic or abstract shape, but even if you do want an abstract shape for yours, there is probably a way to make it work.
Placement - A really great aspect to the counter top bathroom unit is the placement. If you have a long or large countertop, you can angle the unit any way you want it. You can put it in the corner so that you have one whole side for appliances and toiletries. Or you can put the unit in the middle so you have space on either side.
Materials - Some ideas for what materials to use: The countertop you use for your sink can be marble, wood grain, granite, or even stainless steel. The unit can also be made out of any of these materials. As with any bathroom appliance, pretty much anything goes and anything you can create in your mind can be turned into a reality.
So, when it comes time for your next bathroom remodelling project, consider using counter top sinks.
