In a very short answer, yes. Intruder alarms are indeed well worth it. It is a sad fact, but a fact nonetheless that burglaries happen everyday throughout the UK. It is not just homes that suffer either, but businesses and offices too. Having security measures in place is absolutely vital if you want to ensure you don't become the next victim. An intruder alarm is a great way to deter burglars and intruders and protect your belongings. This article discusses why an intruder alarm is such a good idea, as well as other ways you can improve your safety in the home.
Intruder alarms work by sounding an alarm when a perimeter has been crossed. There are many different types from the relatively simple to the extremely complex. You can purchase alarms that sensor a change in temperature in the room caused by the body heat of someone entering it. You can also purchase alarms that sound when an invisible line inside the house has been crossed. If you want peace of mind that your home is safe then you need to invest in an intruder alarm of some kind. All budgets are accommodated for and when you can rest easily or go away on holiday safe in the knowledge that your home is protected, you will pleased you made the purchase.
There are other ways you can protect your home. CCTV camera equipment is another way you can ensure burglars are deterred. These work very well in fact because no criminal wants to be filmed in the act. Because there are wireless cameras available you can hide them discretely around your home so you don't have to ruin the look of your home. If you really want to have the most security possible then you should use both intruder alarms and cctv camera equipment. An intruder alarm does not always deter a determined thief, however seeing a camera will certainly give them second thoughts. Particularly good types of camera for the home are the covered or domed variety that you see in airports and banks. Not only are they small and discrete but it is also impossible to tell which way the camera is pointing. You never know if you are being filmed with a domed camera and this is very off putting for an intruder.
Other simple security measures should always be adopted in the home too. You should never leave a spare key hidden anywhere, even if you think you are being clever and hiding it in a fake rock! This is the first place an intruder would look for a key. If you want to leave a key, leave it with a neighbour. Also ensure that all locks on windows are working well. This is absolutely vital because breaking through a window is a common way break ins occur. Always remember to turn on the intruder alarm too. It may sound like common sense but often people forget. If possible you should try and get one that you can put on at night, even when you are in the house and asleep. Intruders often strike at night, so having a good alarm that works downstairs while you sleep upstairs is worthwhile. It is sensible to occasionally test the alarm too to ensure it is still working. To do this make sure you do it at the same time each week or month so that the people in the house and the neighbours know it is just a test.
Whether it is your home or office you want to protect, intruder alarms are always a good idea. Fire detection equipment is just as important if you want to protect your home from common dangers. Security is important in all parts of life, from retail tagging in shops to alarms in offices and cctv cameras at home.
