Many of us take it for granted that their computer system will always work properly. It simply is something which you expect to work whenever you are ready to use it. There always seems to be that one unfortunate day when you turn on the computer and nothing happens or you are working on something and the system freezes. While the initial reaction is to panic because you were looking to do something and now your plans are ruined, it is important to realize that the situation is not hopeless. You can get the IT support you will need in order to get everything back up and running in no time.
There are a few ways in which the IT support might help with disaster recovery. They might help by recovering the data and switching it to a new system. They might also be able to help by removing the infected hardware and installing new hardware which will be repopulated by the information which is stored in backup. Another possibility is that the IT professionals may be able to reboot the system and eliminate the problem which is causing the crash. No matter what, it will normally take less than a few hours to get the system back in operational condition.
Moving Information to a New System
Often what will happen in a system which has crashed is that the system will be corrupted to a point in which the motherboard will have fried out completely. While the hard drive might be unaffected, the information will have to go into a new system which will be able to support the old information. Using IT support is advisable because they will screen all information being put onto the new system to make sure that it is clean and usable.
Recovering Information from Backup
Another way in which IT support will recover information is to install new hardware and retrieve the information from the backup storage. In some cases this will still cause you to lose information. It is one of the many reasons why you are advised to constantly back up data, not just at the end of the night. By recovering data in this manner, it is possible to scan all data in the backup storage to make sure that it is free of viruses before installing it on the new hardware which has been installed.
Removing Viruses from the System
If the hardware has not been affected by the crash, it is possible to simply reboot the system from a disc. When this is done, IT support can look into the nature of the infection and can get rid of it. This is the easiest fix because it will not require any major changes to the system at all. In many cases you will only need to install new antivirus software to prevent any future crashes. In other cases, upgrades to software will be necessary as a bug in the software is causing the crash.
