The Shield seasons revolve around an atypical unit of corrupt police officers, which has become habitual to ignoring law books to ensure justice’s victory over injustice. Although to say that they are not virtuous will be like taking side of lies, they are not short of vices as well. Yes, we cannot deny that they are an ultra effective unit when it comes to reining in hardened criminals, but is this corrupt picture of an ideal cop acceptable?

It’s pretty unlikely that many of us will agree, as law maintenance should never be at the cost of losing one’s invaluable integrity. After all, law maintenance agencies play a pivotal role in setting ideal examples in front of the society. They are mirrors of the society and any blot in this mirror, will automatically become an inseparable part of society’s image.

With the anti-voices considered, let us see why The Shield had to resort to exaggerated depiction of the cop world in its seasons. The prime reason for that is a weak and ambiguous law system. It’s neither too stern nor too weak. In other words, a perfect balance is missing. This implies presence of several loopholes, which have been often exploited by the crime world to evade the deserved punishment.

Watch The Shield online and you will know that it’s the impotent law system, which encourages the cops to look beyond it, to root out crime from the society. The show in no way encourages a real cop to become corrupt. It simply puts across this message that we need to look into the law books and change the words, wherever they are unintentionally taking sides of the crime world.

The out of the queue show in discussion, projects a no holds barred picture of a police officer to erase any scope for justice denial. Rather than touting The Shield as a projector of a corrupt picture of the policing world, we can try to pay attention to the message it puts across. All seasons of this show are prime motivations for legislative bodies to devise impenetrable laws, so that a cop never feels helpless and the battle between law and crime does not end up being a fight between the unequal. A cop has to be equipped with the necessary freedom, so that he or she can take quick and timely action, otherwise crime will become so deeply rooted, that finishing it from the core will become next to impossible.

I am sure that most of you agree with the end point of this discussion. However, if you are still not fully convinced, then watch The Shield and decide for yourself. Fixing a date with this thought-provoking show is not at all difficult, as numerous opportunities to download The Shield are available on the internet.
