Golfing in London is ideal for those who live in the city and do not want to drive off too far to play a few rounds of golf. Here are five of the best golf courses in North London.
Trent Park Golf Course
This is an 18 hole public pay and play golf course situated in Oakwood Village, Enfield. Trent Park Golf Course is set within the grounds of the stunning Trent Park Country Park. This course is situated in the rolling hills at the beginning of the green belt, opposite Oakwood underground station.
Finchley Golf Club
The course at Finchley is superbly situated – it is only eight miles from central London, six miles from London’s West End, within easy reach of The North Circular Road, and close to Mill Hill East underground station on the Northern Line. The course offers a great test to all standards of golfer. Finchley is proud of its reputation as one of the friendliest clubs in North London.
Hampstead Golf Club
The golf course at Hampstead is probably the most interesting 9 hole course in North London. Founded in 1893, Golf Club is a thriving private members club in North London and is the closest golf course to the centre of London. It boasts a competitive golf membership of men, ladies and juniors. The golf course was laid out by Tom Dunn, one of Britain’s popular designers, and provides a variety of golf for all levels of player.
Hendon Golf Club
This golf course is located 9 miles from the centre of London and offers excellent golfing facilities to members, visitors and societies. The beautiful parkland course provides a challenging test to golfers of all levels, and was designed in 1925 by Henry Colt, the foremost golf course architect of his day. The clubhouse has recently been completely refurbished, providing excellent facilities.
Highgate Golf Club
Highgate Golf Club is a friendly members’ club opened in 1904, and is the closest 18 hole course to central London. The golf course is often referred to as London’s best kept golfing secret and is just 20 minutes from Oxford Street. The 18-holes stretch to 6,000 yards and are set in idyllic surroundings on the north side of Hampstead Heath
