One of the most important rooms in any house is the bathroom. It is the first place we go to after waking up. Sometimes when we come home from work tired and stressed just the thought of taking a warm bath is enough to start relaxing us. Before going to bed at night the bathroom is also the last place we go to. And seeing that we spend so much time in our day in it, it has to be functional, comfortable and pleasing so that every visit to it is an enjoyable experience.
The available space is one of the main things to consider when custom designing a bathroom. Trying to put too much into a small area, will make it look even smaller. Putting too little in a big area can make it unpractical. In a small bathroom a tub and shower in one will be the way to go. In a big bathroom the shower can be separate but near the tub. In this case the shower can also be custom with several shower tiles with different water pressure options. When choosing the tub it is important to decide if it is going to be for one or two persons and if it will have whirlpool. All these options might sound expensive but they don't have to be. It is a matter of shopping around and check with different brand names.
One of the key points of the bathroom will be the cabinets. There are many different types of cabinets to choose from depending on the taste of every homeowner. Some of the options are different woods, different colors and different styles. If the space allows it, consider a double sink cabinet and a makeup area. If the homeowner is single this can be an important feature if he or she decides to sale the house later on. A linen closet will add storage space and elegance to the room.
Another focal point to consider is the lighting. If there is too much light it might make the room warm and even make people sweat when using the lavatory. On the other hand, some of the makeup mistakes are made due to poor lighting. Thinking that all toilets are the same is a misconception. Toilets come in different heights, shapes, and in one or two pieces to accommodate the homeowners' needs. The floor and wall tile are also key factors in the final look of the bathroom. A bathroom designed with the right choices can be a place to relax.
