What makes a home a home are the personal touches and details that make it unique and personalized for you. With numerous design options and the ability to endlessly customize, the home is the best reflection of personal taste and style. The current trend with kitchens today revolve around thinking of it as a hub, while, the trend with bathrooms is creating a spa-like haven for retreat and relaxation.

"Thanks to a media-rich society, consumers are more up to date than ever on current trends and the latest styles. Designing new products within specific style categories helps to create solutions that reflect the way design-savvy consumers shop for new products," says a director of industrial design at a home products company. While certain kitchen and bath trends can go out-of-style before you even start to remodel, there are some styles that will always remain popular. It’s not always about picking the most popular trend, but picking what works best for your lifestyle.

Here are some of the latest and most innovative trends:

Traditional /Classical

The traditional look takes its styling cues from classical periods which tend to be more decorative and ornate. A new twist offers cleaner and more defined lines helps to reduce cluttered designs, while maintaining the standard embellished look. Deeply luxurious and rich tones such as mochas, oil rubbed bronzes, caramelized weathered brasses and gold take center stage, aptly defining this era.

Casual

The casual look, also known as the sophisticated country look, brings new interpretations of more traditional forms of country couture, with simpler lines and cleaner patterns. Metal tile products that offer a look of rubbed bronze, brushed nickel and aged pewter play well into this trend.

Urban Loft / Modern

The urban loft look captures the feel of modern, city living, and is often characterized by minimalist, crisp lines. Horizontally defined spaces are intersected by products such as faucets which provide a vertical, visual break. High gloss surfaces are often contrasted against splashes of unexpected color like that inspired by using Glass Tile. The urban loft look is characterized by popular choices like blonde woods, polished chrome, stainless steel and high-gloss blacks.

As people continue to define their perfect space by using components from varying trends, today’s savvy manufacturers are designing products that fit into several style categories. There are multiple materials and products to achieve the desired look.
