Cleaning large concrete areas can be a time-consuming and arduous task. In the past to clean large open areas a broom was used taking up manpower and costing valuable labor dollars. A perfect machine to cut labor when cleaning these areas is a floor sweeper. There are three types of floor sweepers, mechanical sweepers, walk behind battery sweepers, and ride on large area sweepers. Mechanical sweepers rely on the wheels to drive a large brush when the unit is pushed. The debris is then pushed from the rotating brush into a large hopper with ample room to collect it. The walk behind battery sweeper relies on an electric motor to spin a large brush at higher RPMs to collect more dirt more efficiently. The unit generally rolls easier than a mechanical sweeper because the electric motor is doing the work instead of the user. A ride on sweeper is used for larger areas and has a traction drive system and an electric motor and allows the user to drive the machine. One of the best battery-operated sweepers sold in the United States is the NSS sidewinder 27 MB. This unit can clean up to 30,000 square feet making a large task more efficient.
The three main components on this unit is a large side brush located at the front of the machine, the rotating internal brush and a debris filter system. The large brush on the front of the machine is used to sweep larger debris into the rotating brushes path. From here the rotating brush lifts the debris into a large area where it is filtered and smaller dust particles are caught. The front brush relies on a belt pulley system and is driven by the same electric motor that drives the internal brush. The sidewinder has ample power from its.4 horsepower battery driven motor. The unit relies on a 12 volt system that derives its power from one single battery. Utilizing one battery makes the machine lighter and more maneuverable. The debris filter system on this unit uses a large square filter that can be easily shaken to remove dust and particles. NSS has outfitted this unit with an ergonomic handle which makes the machine easy to push resulting in less fatigue for the user.
The machine is relatively easy to operate with just one single on the off toggle switch that controls all functions. A debris hopper is located in the back of the machine and is easy to empty when it becomes full. Maintenance on this machine only acquires that the acid batteries be filled with water when they run low and the belts be checked at regular intervals. Replaceable parts on this machine include belts and brushes which are relatively inexpensive and easy to find any NSS parts store.
Compared to other sweepers sold in the U.S this machine has more power, is lighter, and much easier to use. The sidewinder 27 sweeper can clean up to 90,000 square feet on a single charge. This type of performance is unheard-of for mechanical battery operated sweepers. When compared to brands such as Nobles, Windsor, and Mastercraft this machine has more power and is built with better components. The average lifespan of an NSS sidewinder is 15 years and all parts can be replaced easily by a certified technician.
