What Are the Most Common Material of Underwear
This article is going to introduce the most common used material in making underwear to you, including natural material and synthetic material.
Compared with outwear, underwear are attached to more importance. So the material we use to make underwear should be better. Generally speaking, the material used for making underwear can be divided into two groups.
The first group is natural material. This group can be further classified. Among these detailed classifications silk is the best one. Silk is smooth and flexible. It is absorbent and breathable. However, it is easy to crumple and fade. Besides, we should be careful when we wash silk clothes. Apart from silk, cotton is the most popular material. It is well known that cotton is very soft and comfortable. Many people think it is the best material for clothes. However, it has its defects. For instance, we have to iron all cotton clothes every time we wash them. What’s more, cotton clothes are easy to shrink when we wash them. The last natural material we usually use is linen. Actually linen is the most breathable and durable. But it is not so soft and comfortable as silk and cotton. In ancient times only humble people wear linen clothes.
Maybe it is because of the defects of these natural materials that people make synthetic material to replace them. Man-made materials combine the advantages of the above-mentioned materials, which makes it easier to wash our clothes. Polyamide or nylon is the most durable one among synthetic materials. It is also flexible. But it is not quite comfortable and easy to fuzz and shrink. It is usually used in making straps of bras or socks. Polyurethane is even more flexible than polyamide. But it is not used alone. Generally it is synthesized with other materials. Lycra feels like rubber. It is flexible, soft and not easy to crumple. It is the common material for brassieres. Polyester is also common. It is smooth and durable. Polyester clothes are also not easy to fade or crumple. However, it is not comfortable to wear such clothes because the material is not breathable. Except for these materials, acrylic is also synthetic. It is also called "synthetic woolen". We can figure out from this name that it is very soft and warm. But it is not real woolen. And it is not as flexible as natural woolen.
There are some other materials other than those I mentioned. What’s more, as the development of new technology, more new materials are used to make clothes. And these new materials have overcome the disadvantages of traditional materials, which will improve the quality of human life.
