The ideal tub for most people would be a tub where you could lay down in without feeling cramped. You will have ample room to take a shower in without feeling claustrophobic. The tub should be like a resort or feel like you are in a luxurious massage hotel for a weekend stay. That is why most people like to have their tubs customized because most tubs come in just a standard size.
To achieve that spa-like feeling when you are in the shower or tub, most people opt for the extra wide or a claw foot tub, which some may call it. These are the vintage type tubs that exude the feeling of spa, massages, pampering and luxury. To find a shower curtain for these types of tubs requires a bit of creativeness since these are not the normal tubs that come in most homes or apartments.
To shield the water from getting on the floor requires the use of an extra wide curtain. These curtains are not easy to come by as they are not that popular and therefore not carried by all stores because they would just loose money if they did. However, for those stores that do carry these shower curtains, they charge more than they are worth, but, it is expected because of how hard it is to find them. The best places to find these extra wide shower curtains is definitely in on the internet where you will find a huge range of choices available to pick from.
If you don't want to spend that much money on a curtain, you can of course get one made specifically for you at a curtain shop which you could find online easily. However, that may cost a pretty penny as well, probably not as much as buying the pre-made shower curtain but it will depend on several factors. Example: The type of fabric you want the shower curtain to be made of, the type of tub it is to cover, the measurements of the curtain, the details of the curtain, how you want it to hang from the rod, etc...
Another option and the most cost efficient method you have is to just make it your self. How hard can that be? Not hard at all. Just put some hems in a large piece of fabric, preferably 108"-10' wide, put some button holes at the top and that's it! Now, all you have to do is hang it on whatever loop holes you want.
