Many people don't realize it, but you can buy cotton shower curtains for your home. While vinyl or plastic may be more common, and slightly less expensive, there is nothing better and more cost effective than a luxurious cotton shower curtain.
Vinyl and plastic curtains have exactly two benefits; they are cheap and they are disposable. However, these are not true benefits at all. Plastic curtains are not environmentally friendly, and will have to be replaced regularly as they can not be properly cleaned. They are prone to mold, mildew and tearing. Any money saved on their purchase is quickly lost as they have to be replaced.
With a cotton shower curtain, however, you are sure to save money, protect the environment, and improve the look and feel of your shower. A cotton curtain can be removed and properly laundered. This eliminates any mold or mildew, and bleach can be used on them to remove any stubborn stains. When taken from the washer, simply hang it up to dry in your shower. Your curtain will still feel as soft and welcoming as it did the first day.
Cotton is a natural product, and using it is environmentally friendly. Anyone interested in preserving resources can feel good about purchasing one. The best part about these curtains is that it will last you for years to come, rather than just a few months. Even with weekly or bi-weekly washings, you can expect it to last. The chances are that you will simply be ready for a new one long before it actually wears out.
The fact is that cotton curtains are actually comparable in price to higher quality vinyl curtains. Yet they will last four times longer. Because you can safely wash them in hot water, with bleach, you will know that you can get this curtain truly clean. You will save money and time.
Finally, cotton shower curtains just look great in your bathroom. Your guests will wonder where you found it, and then they'll wonder why they never bought one. Imagine enjoying a shower without having a cold, clammy plastic liner next to you, but rather a soft and comfortable curtain. The curtains will not soak through, and will dry rapidly. You simply close the curtain so it's spread out across the bathtub, and it will dry out nicely, discouraging the growth of mold.
The next time you are in the market for a new shower curtain, consider upgrading to a soft, natural, environmentally friendly cotton one. In addition to saving money and helping the planet, you will also love how it looks and feels in your bathroom.
