Over 1.8 million service members have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan over the past several years. Some of these deployments have been in excess of a year and many soldiers have returned several times. Deployments have always been a part of military life and many have had a significant impact on keeping American safe and secure.
One of the best ways to commemorate this time abroad is with deployment rings. These beautifully crafted rings are a tribute to these deployments and there are a number of different options for creating the perfect ring. For example, perhaps you want to give your loved one a ring for deploying to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
First, you would need to decide what type of metal you would like the ring crafted out of, such as yellow or white gold, silver, or valadium. While gold and silver are great choice for very formal, elegant deployment rings, many people prefer valadium because it’s more resistant to scratches. It’s a good choice for military members who work in labor intensive fields.
There are different styles of deployment rings available. Some resemble a class or school ring, while others have an engraved or etched top instead of a stone. The style of ring and the material will have the most impact on the ring’s pricing.
Deployment rings may or may not have a stone on the top of the ring. Some will have a logo inside the stone, such as the branch emblem. You’ll also have a chance to choose emblems on the sides of the stone and the ring. There are hundreds of emblems to choose from, such as symbols for loyalty, duty, honor, and courage. Perhaps you would like to place the member’s name on the side or a specific insignia for a specialized unit, like the Navy Seals or Army Special Forces. These emblems are what truly make these deployment rings unique and personalized for the recipient.
You can also have a special message, date, or name inscribed on the inside of the ring. It might be the dates of the deployment, service dates, or location. Whatever you decide, deployment rings are sure to become a treasure heirloom that will be passed on to future generations.
Ordering is very simple, even with extensive personalization. These rings will arrive in a beautiful gift box, suitable for any occasion. While deployment rings are the perfect choice for someone just leaving, they are also a great gift for someone who has just returned. Perhaps you’d like to give a deployment ring for an anniversary, birthday, or retirement gift. However, there doesn’t have to be a special occasion to recognize the selfless service and sacrifice of our military members.
In closing, deployment rings and other military jewelry are a piece of military heraldry that will be treasured for years to come. Each time the service man or woman looks at such a ring, they will know that your love and gratitude will follow them anywhere.
