There are a lot of people who believe that video games are just a waist of time and there is nothing useful you can learn from them. Also, there is an opinion in public that the games are making the people lazy (when it comes to brain activity and physical activity also), inflexible and not prepared for the real life. Actually opposite of this believing, the experts indicate the fact that there are a lot of video games that could help you benefit your problem solving skills. For the ones that don’t have experience in gaming, puzzle video games, for example, are type of games that could help them develop their logic and actuated their thinking, focusing on conceptual challenges.

Puzzle video games are a type of video games that have the puzzle solving in the core of their concept. They are focused on logical and conceptual challenges, usually combined with time - pressure or other type of action - elements. Solving of this kind of game includes logic, strategy, sequence solving, pattern recognition, and word completion. Point is that the player should directly or indirectly manipulate with colours, shapes or symbols, which are involved in the game, into a specific pattern. Often the puzzle game offers series of puzzles that are related and actually are a variation on a single theme. The player must reveal hidden clues, in order to achieve some of victory condition, so he could get the allowance to go to the next level. Usually every next level is harder than the last one.

There are a few types of the puzzle video games, based on the same principle. Here could be counted action games, hidden object games, reveal the picture games, physics games and classical type of puzzle games.

Action puzzle or arcade puzzle is a type of game that requires that the player manipulates game pieces in a real - time environment.
