There are thousands of storage shed plans or blueprints for every imaginable type of shed construction. As our individual or family interests grow, so does the need for additional space or storage. Clutter interferes with our lives.
Would you like to build a DIY shed construction? Learn about the different types of storage shed designs.
Imagine what it would be like to build a standard lean to shed housing a few garden tools. No more tripping over the hoe or the rake or getting tangled in the garden hose.
A lean to shed is the simplest of shed designs, an excellent project for a beginning woodworking enthusiast.
See yourself building a car shed, otherwise known as a garage, a bicycle shed, a motorcycle shed, a boat shed, a tractor lawnmower shed or a snow mobile shed, and water sports equipment shed.
The sheds or garages that protect our motorized toys of transportation and fun will vary in size depending on the number of vehicles being housed including repair parts, supplies, and tools. The majority of these sheds are kept simplistic in design as most of the utilitarian needs will be in the interior of the shed.
Depending on the type of shed you elect to construct, select a roof height that will be comfortable for you as you enter and exit the building. Roof trusses may be considered as additional storage space offering an open floor not hindered by storage.
Shed foundations are made with concrete, concrete block, brick, and pressure treated lumber. Sheets of plywood create the flooring. Flooring should be supported to afford strength.
Doors to be used can either be single, double or roll up. The roll up door is the most beneficial for housing a single or a double car garage.
Including a single door is helpful when you want to retrieve a smaller item. It would eliminate opening the double doors unnecessarily. Attaching a ramp simplifies vehicle removal.
A window or two needs to be considered for ventilation. Vehicle fumes, gas powered appliances, paints and other flammable products need circulation of air.
Electricity may be considered for heat, air conditioning, and power tool operations.
Do you need to construct a potting shed or a custom greenhouse?
The potting shed needs to be well ventilated because of fertilizers, soil, insecticides, and sprays. Soil and fertilizers are messy. Easy access plumbing would be handy. A work bench is necessary as well as a few shelves and hooks for the hand garden tools.
A small greenhouse is excellent for growing seedlings before moving them to a flower bed or vegetable garden.
Orchids and other foliage will require a larger building as these types of hobby plants will remain in the greenhouse. The roof may be made of glass or plastic, and flooring will probably be concrete. Special hooks for hanging baskets, shelving, ladders, side windows for ventilation, electricity for fan heat and air conditioning. Do not forget plumbing fixtures, and a work bench.
Think back to when you were a child wishing you had a special room. Your talented woodworking craftsman hands can make it a reality.
The sheds of today have become a second or an additional room away from the main house. There are thousands of shed blueprint designs for you to choose depending on the function of the building.
The shed design may be an A-frame or barn style with or without a porch, barn shaped garage, pet barn, saltbox greenhouse, a playhouse, pool cabana, cottage, or a replica of your personal home. Imagination and your personal needs will dictate the exterior of the shed.
Other considerations can be cupolas, skylights, electrical lighting, motion detectors, alarm systems, and even partitioning your storage area to separate different items.
Your needs and imagination will dictate the shed design project. Visit the hobbies section of Tricia Deed at http://www.Infotrish.vpweb.com/ and review Welcome Woodworking
