External Hard Drive TB Customer Reviews
PRICE... LOOKS... QUALITY... WESTERN DIGITAL... QUIET... -TroyDowling on Newegg.com
The Elements 2tb is very quiet and does it's job unnoticed. The tiny light is unobtrusive and won't light up the room all night, it is on the back side. Some complain the cord is too short, but for me it is perfectly long enough to reach where I have it placed near the computer. -Jeeps - the real one on Buzzillions.com
The price is great.
The product seems to go on line and off every few seconds. I have not sent it back for warranty yet.
The warranty is only 2 years, the warranty of the segate competative is 5 years. -Billyboytoo on Walmart.com
The moment you receive the drive check your warranty online at the Western Digital website. The warranty for this model is only 1 year which I consider absolutely insufficient for a drive. The bad thing about it is that Western Digital starts counting from the manufacturing date and by the time you get it, the warranty left is only 9-10 months which is ridiculous. -wiespinosas on Amazon.com
Easy to install. We use this on a Mac for Time Machine. Good value for the money. -hirschwrites on BHPhotoVideo.com
Out of the box this hard drive was read-only when I hooked up to my iMac. Instructions included didn't address how to fix. Had to go online to manufacturer website to troubleshoot. Not incredibly difficult, but someone unfamiliar with technology would probably have some trouble. -DAllen415 on BestBuy.com
This was exactly what I wanted in a USB hard drive: gigantic capacity, great price, portability, and no extraneous software to wade through and work around taking up space. -Anonymous Charlie on CircuitCity.com
2TB drive worked right out of the box. No problems so far. Primarily use it to view movies and music. -Arctor on Newegg.com
Its much smaller than I expected. It is dead silent, I had to touch it to convince myself that it was running, when I first turned it on. Its not too heavy either. -Sree V. Ramella on Amazon.com
I opted for WD's (low end) Element series HD with 2TB of capacity which as of now does not have the permanent backup software. So far it operates just great! And for the price you can't beat it. -Marv Jr. on Buzzillions.com
I haven't been using it for too long, but so far it is exactly what I needed. Pretty fast and convenient, ideal for extra or back-up storage. 2TB is a lot of space.... -andinas on Walmart.com
This is a hassle free drive and is not bundled with any of the extra software which is exactly what I wanted. You simply plug it in and it works. It can easily be formatted to work with macs as well. I've been using WD hard drives for years and I own several models of the "essential" and "passport" editions. They are very reliable. -Gaurav Kumar on Amazon.com
I ordered two identical drives, and neither drive could be partioned on my computer, even after hours of internet instructions and two extremely long phone calls with WD's customer service. -Steve the Great on BHPhotoVideo.com
I looked at the features and user ratings and decided to try this one over the others in a comparable price range. Easy installation and works flawlessly! -DH2112 on BestBuy.com
This product is what it says it is, with the exception that it's actually 1.8TB. Beyond that, it is exactly what the description says it it, large, not particularly fast, and very, very quiet. -Mo on CircuitCity.com
One thing some people might not like: The case is designed to sit flat (as pictured), not on its side. There are four small non-skid pads on the bottom corners, but none on either side. There is no indication on the box, in the documentation, or on Western Digital's web site as to whether the drive will work properly on edge. As a general rule, WD drives are designed to operate sideways or even upside down (any X,Y,Z orientation), so this one probably will too -- but you'll need to provide your own non-skid pads. -ScottW on Amazon.com
