It is easy to forget that believers are given a great commission to not just love God but to share the love of Jesus by teaching the gospel and reaching out to those who are lost and in need. Before Jesus left, he instructed his disciples to go, teach, baptize and make disciples. Christian ministry covers a wide spectrum of areas, but children are often overlooked. God uses children just as he uses adults. God chooses his people for a purpose from the womb as he did with Jeremiah the prophet, so it is important to ensure that all of God’s people’s needs are met.
God has a heart for young people, those in financial lack, the fatherless and the spiritually poor. In fact, he has commanded his people to reach out and assist them. When all of these needs are combined into one group, it becomes imperative that a ministry is developed to assist them. This organization has chosen to focus on addressing all of these areas.
Statistics show that people that when people have goals, a sense of purpose and a support system of caring individuals, they are more productive, healthier, live longer, have an increased desire to contribute to society and are spiritually more grounded. This program aims to instill all of these values by meeting youth where they are. If their primary need is adoption, a parental figure, mentor or classes for parents, then that is what is addressed. Parents are the building blocks of a society who shape and mold the morals and character of the future generation through discipline and spiritual guidance. They are the first teachers. Often, their voiced opinion and actions toward their children impact them for a great deal of their lives.
Very few people are able to fully receive the word of God when they are concerned about when or if they will eat that day. Just as Jesus was concerned about feeding the multitudes that came to hear him and God made provisions for feeding the poor, providing for the hungry is a major focal point. Developing bodies need proper nourishment to establish healthy eating habits that will follow them for the rest of their lives.
Spiritual instructions and growth are just as important as feeding the body. Christians are commanded to teach and preach to all who will hear. Children are to be trained in the fear of the Lord and in the knowledge of his word striving for maturity in him to train the next person. This ministry seeks to develop well-trained disciples while meeting their basic needs (Matthew 25:34-40).
