Mendoza city enjoys a warm climate, however temperatures have an important yearly oscillation and rain is scarce. The Ruins of San Francisco used to be a Jesuitical order church that had been installed in Mendoza in 1608. The church had been constructed by the Jesuits in between 1716 and 1731 and was devastated in 1861 by an earthquake that devastated the city leaving Mendoza in ruins.
