Stand in the middle of your lounge. Get an understanding of the area. But prior to starting to fantasize nice things, your thoughts get interrupted by the disturbingly growing mess that is promising to swallow your house full. You look over to your left, and you see books, piles of books, some all the way back to your elementary school days. There are mounds of papers and magazines but you are not exactly sure what they are about or the last time you read them.
Now you glance to your right and you see your children toys sprawled all over the place, the empty pizza box from last night's late motion picture marathon, or perhaps the amassed pizza boxes of many film night marathons. There's trash, maybe some odds and ends, candy, hair brush, varied pieces of clothing. And is that the corner of the wrapped baby present (for your best friend that you thought you sent 4 months ago) sticking out from under heaped oodles of the unfolded washing in a chair?
You may wonder what to do first. Burn down the house? Hold your head and cry? Unfortunately , there is not any simple way out. Burning down your house or crying will not help you attain anything. So long as you don't burn down the house, there will still be garments to put away, books and papers and mail to sort through, trash to be disposed of. You made the mess. You've got to clean it up.
As discouraging as it may appear, clutter clearing isn't that tough. The very first thing that you've got to do is to stay centered. Failing to prepare to succeed is like making ready to fail. If feasible, send the kids to the house of a friend or family member so that you can work in peace and without interruption.
Next, list all the litter that you see, prioritize the list from most to least. Where is the most clutter? Where is the least? This will help give you a concept about what you want to concentrate on first. Before you know it, you will have cleared much of your clutter, you just need to put your mind to it and stay on task.
After you're done with your list, take out everything. Place items no longer desired or required into large bins for later sale, donation, or trash. Next, gather all of your cleaning materials. Once the area is clear of items, sweep or vacuum the floor, dust the cabinets or shelving, use glass cleaner on any mirrors or glass surfaces.
Clearing the litter from your house or a room might be a hard practice, but it's a really good one. Once you've experienced the positive results of having a well-organized, neat home, the better you will feel about the room and your home, and even yourself. You'll be happy you took the time to clear the clutter.
