If you work from home it is more important than ever that you keep your home organized and clutter free. Working from home is seen as a badge of freedom by most people but it can turn into a nightmare if your environment is not right.
A cluttered home will sap your energy. You will wake up and see the mess and just want to go back to bed. If you need to work it is going to make things tough on you.
Create A Plan To Get Rid Of the Clutter
You have to have a plan if you want to free yourself of this great energy drain. Start with the room you work from most of the time and work out from there. Just how bad is it? Are there pizza boxes and McDonalds bags around or is it just that you have not organized your work?
Clearly if your office is cluttered with McDonalds bags and trash like that, then that is the place to start. Bag it and get it out. Then move on and pick up your files and reports. If you don't have a file cabinet it is time to get an inexpensive one. A 2 drawer cabinet is both inexpensive and will actually hold quite a lot. So get those files up and organized in the cabinet.
Next are books, do you buy a lot of books and now find them stacked just about everywhere. Time to get them up and into a book case. If you don't have a bookcase you can buy a five shelf model for a price from $30 to $100. If you need more than one bookcase, be sure to get it. Now your books can serve you instead of being anchors to drag you down.
While going through your books be sure to get rid of the ones you no longer need or want. It has always amazed me some of the books I have bought along the way.
When you begin to declutter your home this way it will feed itself and the speed of the work will pick up as you see the exciting possibilities for your work area.
