If you compared Sun Country Airlines to other similar carriers, you would see distinctive qualities that would set it apart. Sun Country came into being after a large international airline ceased operations and closed its doors. In fact, many years later Sun Country had to cease all flights in late 2001. However, some people still believed in them, and these investors brought Sun Country back to life. However, once again, there were difficult times in the past several years, and as of December 2010 are in the early processes of bankruptcy reorganization. However, that seems to be just another challenge to overcome for this airline that started so long ago in the early 1980s.

Times were bountiful for the airline ten years later in 1991. The hit all time earnings of $10 million in annual revenue. They had twice as many aircraft in their fleet as well as employees. All of that is to be expected when an airline is run by aviation professionals from the top down. They had managed to acquire scheduled destinations to Europe, and then they added special chartered business to the Middle East. All the while they remained committed to doing more and going farther to earn the trust and praise of their customers - the passengers.

In December, 2010, Sun Country Airlines informed the public they were chosen to provide services from Lansing Michigan to Washington National Airport near Washington DC. The USDOT, Dept of Transportation made the final decision and awarded Sun Country Airlines with the new route. The originating airport will be Minneapolis/St. Paul which is not surprising.

From Lansing, the flight will continue on to Washington National Airport. This has yet to occur only because it is all still so new. Keep in mind that these are not occasional stops, they will be dailies from Lansing to Washington National.

Sun Country Airlines offers many types of special programs, and one of them is called Sun Country Charters. This is merely an outgrowth of the basic charter services they have had in place for almost 30 years. This is a service that seems to be offered to anyone, just as long as they need it.

They have won very many awards for their chartering service over the years. The type of people and businesses they have chartered over the years includes people from all walks of life. One thing about this company is they are truly held in high regard and esteem all around the world. Sun Country Airlines has had to seek reorganization help, but that is actually a smart move on their part - and there is reason for confidence and optimism. All of their accumulated wisdom and experience will only serve them well in this process. You have to realize the this company has managed to survive in the bleak economic times we are in. The turn of events in the global economy is beyond their control. It should be clear that Sun Country will be able to pull this one off, too.
