As a cautionary note, prior to doing any kind of work with fixing cracked concrete, be sure to put on eye protection, in addition you'll possibly want some kind of hand protection too.
The initial step when repairing a large crack should be to get rid of the broken concrete using a hammer and chisel. Carefully chip off all of the damaged concrete wherever it is crumbling and disintegrating to the depth of around about an inch or so. Once you have done this, you'll need to "Undercut" the edges from the section which needs fixing. It's possible to do this by widening the base of the hole, but not the top, so that the inside walls are sloping inwards as they rise.
After doing the above actions, get rid of all of the debris and rubble from the surface which needs repairing and ensure that it stays moist. Permit water to soak into the gap overnight, or sprinkle some in by hand every couple of hours for around 24 hrs.
A product is required for the next phase. Mix some cement powder with water till it turns into a paste or a gel. Normally, it is three parts cement to one part water. Set this aside. Blend a bit extra cement, but make it just a little thinner this time, but remaining sufficiently thick to coat the inside edges or the walls of the crack. This phase needs to be performed as fast as you are able to whilst still executing it proficiently. The cement needs to be used before it dries.
Filling up the hole is the last step. Take the thick cement paste you mixed earlier and use it to fill the hole. Let it harden for a couple of hrs after the task is completed. Following that, cover it using plastic sheeting and sprinkle it with water several times each day for 7 days. This is actually referred to as curing the cement. There you have it, you've taken care of a crack in your concrete.
