Visiting beautiful islands is something of a must on Caribbean cruises - and none could be more appealing than the tiny island of Mayreau.
Situated in St Vincent and Grenadines, this exotic paradise is approximately 1.5 km sq in area and has a population of just 200 to 300. It can be reached by boat only - lacking an air strip - and has virtually no roads.
Its tiny population and dearth of industrial development are precisely what makes Mayreau such an attraction - with lush greenery and beautiful beaches, it really does seem to be a paradise island.
The island's population live in just one village, atop in a hill in the south-west. Equipped with a few restaurants, bars and a small stone church, it is a wonderfully peaceful place from which you will be able to see stunning views of the surrounding islands.
Combining these amazing views with beautiful beaches, the paradise-feel continues as you descend to the coastal areas. Saltwhistle Bay is a must for any holidaymaker, who will find themselves in a lovely half moon-shaped cove.
For a bit more space on the sand, however, you can visit the south-western beach of Saline bay, which is home to white sands and calm waters. If you're interested in spotting some of the island's marine life, here is a great place to go snorkelling. Alternatively, it is the perfect spot to just relax and soak up some sun.
During your Caribbean cruise you will also be able to visit the main island of St Vincent - if you can tear yourself away from Mayreau! - where there is lots to see and do. If you're interested in plant life, you might like to visit the Botanical Gardens in Kingstown, which date back to 1765 and span 20 acres.
Or why not explore the bustling Kingstown centre? As the capital city of St Vincent, it has lots going on, including museums detailing its history and Fort Charlotte, a former British Garrison.
During Caribbean cruises, visiting a quiet, idyllic island is a must - and there can be none more perfect than Mayreau. Here you will enjoy beautiful beaches and stunning views for the ultimate way to relax.
If you're looking for a special luxury holiday, why not visit the beautiful island of Mayreau? The perfect stop-off on a Caribbean cruises, this tiny island is a sparsely-populated paradise.
