The iPad and other tablet computers are quickly becoming a must have item for personal use.
These devices are also starting to make their way into the business environment as well. According to ZDNet, 50 percent of Fortune 100 companies are considering using the iPad in their business.
It is still unknown how exactly tablet computers will be utilized in the business place. Some of the early ways it is being used is for presentations on the go as well as portfolios for customers and clients.
One of the limitations about the iPad is there is no way to directly scan documents into the device. Despite this limitation, there are several ways you can bring paper documents to your iPad. Here are some of the ways to bring scanned documents to your iPad.
Take A Picture: It’s probably not the best way, but if you’re in a bind this will work. With a camera, take a picture of the document that you want to upload to your iPad.
When taking the picture, be sure to have the document on a flat surface. This will help to improve the readability of the document. Also be sure to have proper lighting.
After taking a picture, use the iPad USB camera adaptor to upload the document onto your iPad. You will then be able to access the document through the photo application on the iPad.
Scanning Apps: There are plenty of scanning applications for the iPhone that work because the iPhone has a camera. Since the iPad does not have a camera, these applications will not work.
However there are several applications out there that will allow you to import scanned documents onto your iPad.
One of these applications is called RemoteScan. This application allows you to use your scanner attached to a computer. Once the documents are scanned and imported onto your iPad, you can view the documents through your Photo application.
Limitations: It is important to note that it’s a lot easier to just scan a document and use a computer.
This is probably due to the fact that the iPad is a new device. It is possible that it may become easier to scan documents onto the iPad as Apple releases new generations of the iPad.
For instance there are rumors that the next generation of iPads will have cameras on them. This would make it a lot easier to scan documents. If these devices got cameras, they would operate similar to the iPhone when scanning documents.
With the iPhone, you can scan documents by using the camera. There are several applications that you can use to convert these pictures into PDFs and other file formats.
Until the next generation of iPads comes out, you will have to use one of the two methods above to scan documents for your iPad.
While scanning documents with the iPad is very unique, it is always important to have a quality computer that can work in tandem with your scanner.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve purchased a new computer or scanner for your business, you may want to hold off on buying the iPad. A good computer and scanner can help improve productivity at your business.
