No matter why your repairing your roof, be it shingle replacement on storm damage, a roof repair requires the proper tools to complete. Your roof should be treated with the utmost care when repairing it because it is the most significant part of the house.
Roofing is not an easy job. Though, with the right tools, it can provide great benefits getting through roofing projects. Roofing equipment is separated into two categories, basic and specialized. Many homeowners own some of the needed tools for the job such as: slate cutters, hammers, pry bars and electric drills. The specialized tools include: shingles, tar and adhesive-safe brush to apply the tar. A wealth of roofing nails are also essential, as is a flat-head screwdriver and a chisel for extra help in removing damaged shingles.
If you plan on reassembling and entire roof, you will need more powerful tools such as a roofers saw and shingle rippers. The positive side of this is all of these tools can be rented from home improvement stores.
If you own some of the proper tools, make sure to check them for full functionality. Unsharpened knives and pry bars can lead to potential accidents, which is the last thing you want to occur when working several feet up on a roof. All other tools should be inspected for any damages and tested for functionality before being lifted to the roof repair site. Finally, make sure you have enough shingles in bulk to cover the bare minimum of repairs.
If doing this roof job on your own is too hard it might be worth it to call in a professional repair team who is prepared to bring in all the tools you need and the honed expertise in completing the repair for you. If you decide to look into roofing contractors, do it with care and do your research. Make sure you verify there professions, ask for a list of references and proof of insurance. Once you have a list of contractors to choose from, compare them by price. The average cost of repair will be roughly around $600.
