The specialized tools include: shingles, tar and adhesive-safe brush to apply the tar. If you own some of the proper tools, make sure to check them for full functionality. Unsharpened knives and pry bars can lead to potential accidents, which is the last thing you want to occur when working several feet up on a roof. All other tools should be inspected for any damages and tested for functionality before being lifted to the roof repair site. Finally, make sure you have enough shingles in bulk to cover the bare minimum of repairs.

If you decide to look into roofing contractors, do it with care and do your research. Make sure you verify there professions, ask for a list of references and proof of insurance.
