The best thing to do if you have mold in your home is to get rid of it! There are some easy guidelines that you should follow for mould remediation. First of all, determine how extensive the mold damage is. It the damage is minimal, you can eliminate the mold yourself by using simple household cleaners. If the damage is extensive (for example, under floorboards or in the wall) you likely will need to hire a professional to do the job for you. And remember that there are specialists available that can help you if you have problems determining the extent of mold buildup.
In order to control the buildup of mold means that you have to control the amount of moisture that is in your home. Any leaks in your roof, plumbing or walls need to be repaired quickly so that mold spores will not develop and multiply. After repair, these areas need to be thoroughly dried so that mold is not likely to return. Any surrounding areas and surfaces must also be cleaned and/or removed.
Whenever you take on the task of removing mold, you must take several precautions in the mould remediation process. Wear protective masks, goggles and gloves to eliminate any harmful substances from entering your lungs, your eyes or your skin. Keep the area well ventilated, preferably with a free-standing fan that you can clean thoroughly afterwards. And, do a complete vacuuming job when you’re done so that all traces of the mold are gone.
There are several over-the-counter solutions that destroy existing mold. One of the best is Teflex. It is an antimicrobial solution that is excellent in removing mold. It works to kill mold spores along with bacteria, fungi and other viruses. It is an odorless product and its long-term effects are better than other mold removal products. It is friendly to the environment and can be found in most retail and discount stores. It is safe to use on any surface and disinfects the area as well as killing lingering mold spores. And, you can use it repeatedly because it continues to work even after endless applications. The best thing about Teflex is that once it destroys the mold, it continues to be effective in preventing mold from returning.
As a homeowner, mould remediation is a responsibility that you should take very seriously. Keeping mold at bay not only increases the value of your home, it is the best way to assure that the air in your home is healthy and safe for everyone.
