The horse is well known for her beauty, speed, and power. Much of this comes natural to a horse. They gain great strength and speed simply by running around. However, trainers can make horses stronger by having them do certain tasks to increase their strength. Trainers may even help their horses with exercises to make them quicker.
Even though most horse owners do not have a need to make their equine friends stronger or faster, making them look their best can't hurt. In this article I will show you just how to do this. You'll learn my five best secrets of horse grooming.
Firstly, you have to get a good set of horse grooming supplies. You'll want to make sure you have everything you need before you start. This way you'll be able to get everything done at once and it will be less likely that you will forget things. A body brush, curry comb, mane and tail comb, and a hoof pick, should all be in your horse grooming kit.
Following this, you need to ensure that you clean your horse starting with the top of its body rather than the bottom. It seems that people that are new to cleaning horses tend to begin cleaning from the bottom. Once they are finished with the bottom, they head to the top and send all of the dirt from the top back down to the bottom. Clean the upper body first so that you won't have to clean the lower body twice.
After this, you want to make sure you always wipe off any dirt and mud out of the hoof before you begin to pick it. Attempting to pick the hoof out before you wash it will just make everything much harder. You'll end up having to pick it again once you've washed everything out.
Once you've done this, you might want to use a conditioner or spray on your horse to help everything grow out nicely. Even a super clean horse will look bad if its horse hair is not in good health. A good conditioning spray will keep the hair growing nicely.
Now that you are done cleaning your horse, make sure you place her in a clean area while drying her off. When you let your horse out to pasture immediately after cleaning, they will only attract dust and dirt. They'll end up getting dirty again right away and it will break your heart.
