A rug is a woven or hand made piece of floor covering that is light and made from various materials e.g. chenille, cotton, woollen, and even silk etc. Rugs can be made to order and can be plain or have a design. They are of various sizes – both big and small and are used sometimes as a carpet or just thrown on the floor to sit on, or even used for decorative purposes.

Rugs are made in various ranges – from fine oriental rugs to broadloom carpets. They can be extremely expensive and quite cheap too. These floor coverings are either hand knotted or hand tufted or machine made. The last one is the cheapest. There are shaggy and flat weaves to suit individual life styles. Their craftsmanship decided the money aspect – the more difficult the design that will take an enormous of time, the more expensive the rug will be. The variety of designs can include contemporary rugs, floral rugs, psychedelic rugs etc.

Floral rugs have either an all over design or a bouquet of flowers or sometimes just a single flower or a meadow of flowers. They are an ideal addition to any room and give out a feeling of warmth besides brightening it. They can look decorative and the color can be matched to the decor of the room or the color of the walls. These floral rugs can be selected according to what you like. Some designs are stunning and some just plainly floral.

Discount rugs are available from shops that are trying to bring in new patterns or discarding older rugs before they lose their quality and no one buys them. These discount rugs can also be called clearance area rugs. They may be with certain patterns or shapes which did not have many buyers. Or the color combinations on these discount rugs may not be appealing to people. Some designs may not be a hit and hence are sold as discount rugs. Sometimes prices are slashed to almost half the cost of the rugs so that buyers are attracted to buy them before they are junked. Also, during festive seasons, people tend to buy a new item in the house and discount rugs are bought by many buyers.
