The SL500 server lifter is a precision piece of equipment and if maintained properly, will provide you with years of service. The SL500 server lift makes your data centre working environment not only more productive and efficient but also reduces the amount of back problems and workplace injuries. Over and above that, the server lift makes heavy lifting of servers and batteries a lot easier than man handling these heavy expensive items. Like anything mechanical, regular maintenance is required, most of which is common sense.

The best policy when charging the server lift is to leave it on charged whilst not in use. This is even the case when you're not going to be using the lift for extended periods of time. This will not only ensure that the server lift is always topped up with charge for when you want to use it, leaving the server lift for long periods of time with out usage can lead to battery capacity loss. The server lift plugs into a standard wall plug socket, and all you need to do is just plug in the socket for it to start charging.

A lot of people get mixed confused with the braking system on the server lift. When engaged, this brake provides you with sideways stability whilst it prevents the server lift from moving forward or backwards. Be sure that you familiarize yourself with the stabilizer break and its function in order to make sure that you are using this server lift in the safest way that is possible. There may be some minor adjustments to be made with the brakes, especially if the floor is uneven (which is not too common in data centres). Just read the manual to determine the best practice for these situations, if in doubt do not brake if the wheels are not all touching the floor.

If you are having a difficulty with the SL500 server lift because it will not go up or down, there may be a problem with the sensor switches that control the upper and lower limits. It may be necessary to replace these or perhaps it could be a short in the wiring. If you cannot rectify problems like these on site, then it may be time to call the service department for advice and guidance on what to do.

Your server lift will be able to be used for years with regular maintenance although at times, there may be some preventative maintenance that is available through an optional service contract. The one thing that is important for you to keep in mind when using the SL500 server lifter is that it should always be plugged in when it is not being used. We discussed this at the very beginning of the article, but it is important for you to keep this in mind to increase the life of the battery.

The SL500 server lift also comes with a general maintenance manual for day to day maintenance jobs.
