For those of you who may not fully understand what SEO or Search engine optimization is, it is the process of improving the search engine rankings for specific keywords on your website. Making changes to your website by using specific keywords it "optimizing" it. This is the most common way to increase your search engine rankings.

How SEO Works

When a certain topic is searched by users, they are given a list of results which are the best possible matches according to the keywords used for the search. When you optimize your website, you are providing relevant words that match the ones that are used by people searching. If your website is optimized, you are listed higher in the page ranks, thereby increasing your chances of having your site seen.

Most people don’t bother with SEO because they think it’s difficult, or they don’t know what the heck it even means. All you have to do is find the most common keywords and include them on your pages. You apply this same method to all of your web pages.

Keyword Stuffing

It is important that you don’t use too many keywords. This is called "keyword stuffing," and the search engines don’t like this. If they detect the same words too many times in an article, they could ban your site or one particular page.

Keywords should fit in naturally and flow with your content. Listing too many, will make reading choppy and undesirable.

If you think Search Engine Optimization is not worth your time, think again:

Ninety percent of users on the internet do not go past the first 5 to 10 search results.

Eighty-five percent of users on the internet use the search engines to find websites (typing in specific "keywords").

Seventy-five percent of users on the internet intend to make a purchase when these use a search engine.

Other benefits of Search Engine Optimization:

  1. Improved traffic

  2. Increased conversion rates

  3. Improved internet presence

  4. Increased search engine rankings

Aren’t these all of the things you strive for?

Well, if you are not optimizing your website, perhaps you should start. You are losing out on potential income and basically spinning your wheels if you expect to get to the top of the search engines without SEO.

If you are a little nervous, or you don’t know where to start, there are companies who can help you optimize your website. Of course, there is a fee involved, but you will notice a dramatic increase in your traffic, your search engine rankings, and your conversion rates.

If you’re really serious about making a living as an internet marketer, you should be looking for ways to optimize your website.
