The much awaited Verizon iPhone is now in available in the market. A lot of hopes are attached with this phone as it is expected to be a huge success. The developers are anxiously waiting for the response for Verizon’s iPhone. For iPhone application development it would open up new opportunities and boost their respective business.
Apple after its exclusive link with AT&T made a deal with Verizon changing the mobile landscape. Verizon is expected to boost Apple’s position. The deal is seen as an important strategy by Apple to capture dominance in the US market.
As competition is heating up the developers are getting more concerned. Every launch brings with it new possibilities or failures and developers rely on these responses that determine where they should focus their developmental efforts. Application development depends highly on the success of the operating system and the devices in the market. The more popular a device, the more application development activity you will see.
iPhone changed the application development world. When Apple introduced iPhone it stormed the market. The phone was sophisticated that spoke class. Along with it came the numerous attractive applications that were being developed for the highly functional mobile.
A lot of activity was witnessed in the iPhone application world that came up with more and more enhancements and functions with each passing day. Apple came up with the App store facilitating the developer community further. According to recent reports a figure of 1 million applications were downloaded in 24 hours from the iPhone App store, such is the popularity of this phone.
Things were going steady and still are for iPhone but with Android coming on the scene iPhone is to face stiff competition. Android is growing at a tremendous pace threatening the competitors and traditional mobile companies. In a short span of time it has managed to topple Nokia from the number one slot and has emerged as the most popular operating system.
The progress of Android is making iPhone and other competitors quite uncomfortable as they are now worried about their own business prospects. The iPhone developers’ community has now hooked hopes on Verizon iPhone 4 that is expected to do great business and bring in application development opportunities their way.
With such tough competition it is not a surprise that mobile application developers are looking in all directions to attract customer attention. Applications for all categories from business, lifestyle to games are being developed.
Very often the success of an application is gauged by the number of downloads. According to market experts it is not the right method of judging the success of an application. The success is determined by the usage and how much an application engages the user. The focus of developers therefore should be not on the number of downloads but on the level of engagement. The understanding of consumer demand and loyal user base is the formula for developing a successful application.
