T-Mobile has got some great prepaid phones on the market of late, the one I want to talk about is the T-Mobile Comet, this phone is great value. The current pricing as of March 2011 is $150 which is a real bargain for a Android Os phone.
As most people have become aware from heavy advertising the Android OS is becoming a market leader in the realm of smart phones and tablet devices. The main feature on the Android System is the freedom to multi-task and install any application you damn please.
Pretty much everything you cannot do with any of the iPhones that have come out. The other thing that Android gives you is the freedom to have different brands of phones such as Motorola, Samsung, Huawei among many others.
So having the right to choose many different hardware brands, make the phones have more of a competitive edge than other phones. I predict in the next year we will see Android enabled phones will be around the $50 mark for prepaid phones. The reason I say this is because there is no reason that the OS shouldn't be on some phones now as they would meet the minimum requirements for Android. The Android OS is open source so that means that literally any hardware that will run it for free, well there is some minor licensing but it's basically free.
No doubt the geeks that are so in love with Apple Iphone must hate Android, but they may as well get used of it because it here to stay and will knock the Iphone from it's platform before long. So if you haven't heard of Linux, you should know that that is what Android is based on, and basically if your a PC user and sick the hell of viruses, and malware this OS is the option for you. Open source is the future and companies that don't care for it will b e lost in the closed source world that we had in the 90's and 00' .
So back to the T-Mobile Comet, with the great price it's going to push old phones like the basic cell phones of the shelves.
The touch screen has become an unspoken standard on Smart phone due to the rising range of devices that have this feature.
Like they say once you have had a touch screen phone there is no going back. The on screen keyboards that these phones have have become a lot easier to use and will eventually push the very popular Smart Phones with physical QWERTY keyboards. There are not many phones of any type left that do not have blue-tooth enabled.
The addition of GPS and A-GPS (Assisted GPS) has also become standard on mid range phones removing the need for a separate GPS device, along with data from the Internet on these phones they can be up to date with the latest maps and traffic flows.
So before you go and get a phone that is useless check out some of the Android Smart Phones that are under the $150 mark, you will be impressed with what you will get.
