With the Grammys now over, the winners decided and back home, you can't be faulted for assuming that awards season is over. You'd be to a certain extent correct right - although you will not be watching the results on your TV, there are still scores of awards about to be handed out. Every year, About.com presents the Reader's Choice Awards for anything from Best Beading Magazine to Best Gaming Laptop. There is even an award for Best Source of Templates. It's pretty natural, then, that one of the most actively debated and voted in categories is the Best Web and Mobile Clients for Email category, that has five finalists: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari. The very same five browsers were also the finalists for 2010, since only the most widely used browsers can compete.
The 2010 results awarded the prize to Opera, with 51% of the vote, and Firefox coming up behind with 41% in 2nd place. One interesting thing to note, just one percent of the vote for the last two years went to Internet Explorer and Safari, the built in web browsers for Windows and Mac. Though the votes really should be sufficient proof to influence you, it's been confirmed time and time again that the new generation of browsers like Firefox, Opera, and Chrome are faster, safer, and more reliable. All of these browsers are totally free, and have different features and add-ons for you to choose from. A Mozilla Firefox free download, for instance, will take only minutes and is readily available on their website.
This year, the votes are drastically different, with Chrome in the head at 38% and fourteen thousand, three hundred and twenty two votes as of yet. Firefox is again trailing in second, with 32% of the vote. Opera has dropped since last year, and is only lying at 27% this year. It seems Chrome, the Google browser, has gained wildly in popularity in the last year, or else the poll has simply beckoned more Chrome users more than before. Internet Explorer and Safari together have less than five hundred votes, again establishing them as stand-ins, only used once to get on the net and download Firefox free.
So, you may be asking, when do I get to find out who the winner is? Voting began on February 11, and finishes March 8, with winners announced on March 15. Although Chrome is still in the lead, it's too early to tell for sure who will come out on top. It's not too late to cast your own vote, not only for Best Browser, but for any other topic pertaining to your interests. No shadysketchy academy handing out awards to actors regardless of their current film's quality, the About.com awards are picked only by users. Should you decide to make a very informed conclusion about which browser is really the greatest, giving each browser a go isn't a bad idea. Opera, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox download in seconds each, and takes very little space on your hard drive, and uninstalling whichever you don't like is just as quick. If you already have a favorite, head over to the website make your voice heard!
I design websites, so browsers mean the world to me. While I wouldn't want to influence anyone's vote, I really think everyone should just download firefox free online. It's safe, it works, and you can find a mozilla firefox download fast.
