Paul Richardson, one of the more sports inclined residents of the English village of Martin Dales, has achieved a major accolade in the British Jet Ski championships. Martin Dales is a small village near Woodhall Spa in the East Midlands county of Lincolnshire. A jet ski is a type of personal water craft that can be ridden at a top speed of around sixty miles per hour. Like motor cars and bikes, jet skis can be used for casual riding around on the water, or in competitions.

Not many people from Martin Dales will have ridden a jet ski, apart from Paul Richardson and a small number of others. They are powered by jets of water which enable them to go fast and undertake tricky manoeuvres in the hands of a skilled driver. There are stand up jet skis and sit down jet skis. Some of them can carry three people, but most jet skis are for one person.

Freestyle is one of the techniques carried out by Paul Richardson, the jet skier from Martin Dales. It is very much like surfing, where the wave is ridden as a surfer would do on a surfboard. The wave can also be used as a ramp from which to jump and perform stunts in the air. The term 're-entry' is used to describe how a rider propels their craft from the top of a wave and goes back down on to the wave and carries on riding it.

Freestyle requires great physical strength and coordination to control the Jet Ski and to make sure that it rides the waves in the best possible way. Closed course racing is another technique carried out by Paul Richardson, the jet skier from Martin Dales. Here, up to twenty Jet Ski riders race and the winner is the one finishing first. The starting line is usually a rubber cord. A number of buoys are used to indicate which way to turn.

Paul Richardson brought great pride to his supporters in Martin Dales by winning fourth place in the Runabout Grand Prix Class in the Jet Ski British championships for the year 2010. The events are organized by the Jet Sport Racing Association of Great Britain, and the Winter Series was a very demanding competition, with an assortment of wind, rain and snow to add to the grueling contest.

The final day of the race was when it all happened. The venue was Willen Lakes at Milton Keynes. To achieve the title, Paul Richardson needed to win at least one race outright, which he did with flying colours, by achieving a 12 point lead. His victory on the waves was in full view of all the supporters which included people from his home village of Martin Dales.

As you would expect, the Jet Ski achievement of Paul Richardson was covered in the news media for Martin Dales, which brought great glory to all the people of the small village, particularly those who have an interest in sports.
