Memories of childhood can be difficult to recall, but whether your memories are happy or sad, they are the foundation of the person you are today. Unfortunately many people find it difficult to recall the details of their past lives, sometimes because of age, but more often because we have so much to think about; the details of past events are rarely important enough to occupy pride of place in our memories.
Have you seen older pictures of yourself, friends, or other family members? You can’t resist yourself but laugh, right? Can you still remember your childhood memories? I do remember some but not all. I can still recall how I jump off our home’s veranda to take a swim on the sea. I also remember how my brothers, cousins, and I gathered fruits and seashells. Sadly, I also reminisce how I fell from a stair that nearly broke my arm. That really hurts; however, I also realized then that having an arm is not that easy. I am thankful to our Creator that He has given me two arms to do my tasks in life.
I really admire people who make the effort to record what they do so they can enjoy their memories later in life. So what are those events that are most photographed? These usually involve a baby's first footsteps, a child's graduation, family gatherings and special occasions. Remember no two events are the same each of them has a special place in our hearts which can never be repeated. Now that digital cameras are everywhere, even in phones, there's no reason not to record every event, from formal family weddings to casual weekends at home.
Of course those photos may not seem so precious when they're taken, but in the future they'll bring back vivid memories, not just for you, but for your children and their children who can get to know you across the years by looking at your pictures.
The best way to do this is to build a scrapbook of the pictures, adding notes, captions and decorations. Separate each events based on the occasion and date. It is better if you use highlighter to elaborate the title of the gathering. A good abstract or summary of that event is also good to better convey it to the readers. In later years it may be difficult to put names to places and faces, so don't take any chances, record the details as they happen. Even the act of building the scrapbook is fun!
