Whether you are hoping to get a master's degree, a law degree, a bachelor's degree, or something entirely different, there are several degree programs overseas that gladly welcome international students. This might sound intimidating - crossing an ocean can seem quite far from home. However, there are many advantages to studying abroad.
If you are considering an undergraduate or graduate degree, consider these three reasons for going overseas:
Better Job Opportunities: Graduating from degree programs abroad can widen your employment possibilities. First of all, employers look favorably on people who have gone overseas for their education because studying overseas shows that you are willing to go out of your comfort zone and are not afraid of trying new things. These are two qualities that will serve you will in the employment world.
Secondly, obtaining a master's degree, law degree, or bachelor's degree overseas opens up more networking possibilities. The more places you go, the more people you meet, and the more opportunities just might arise. As they say: it's not what you know but who you know.
Cultural Experiences: Whether you choose to study in Europe, Asia, or Australia, studying any place outside of your native country will open your eyes to new experiences. Since each country comes with its own set of cultures, getting a master's degree, law degree, or bachelor's degree abroad helps you to understand and find a way to work with people from all walks of life. This too will bode well for you in your career.
One last Hurrah: Once your degree programs come to an end, it's inevitable: the real world beckons. After graduation, there is no more spring break, no skipping class, and no asking for an extension on your term paper. Once you've obtained your degree, the job market is the next logical step. Careers, except for a few, are generally fairly rigid: you have a set time you need to be at work, set vacation days, set hours to put in each week. The days of fun and adventure don't completely disappear, but they do become much more infrequent. Thus, use your college years to experience the things you might not be able to once you are knee deep in the world of employment. Go see a part of the world you've always dreamed about.
College, for most people, is a good time. While academics are the main focus, there is also time for friends, fun, and play. Joining degree programs abroad are a great way to compound this good time with a once in a life experience.
