Whether you are using your horse as a worker, a competitor, or simply a friend, you will need to feed and groom her. Your horse can and will live a happy and healthy life, but only if you provide her with the proper care. A horse has to be fed a nutritious meal plan and must be supplied with proper medical attention.
It is not hard to feed an equine. Learn the fundamentals of horse feed and you won't have any problems at all. The first thing you should know about horse feed is the fact that a horse will eat up to two percent of their body weight each and every day of the year.
You may also want to consider giving your horse half of their meals as forage feed. This is healthier for the horse and will help you avoid stomach problems. This means that it is perfectly acceptable to use pelleted feed, but try not to make this one hundred percent of their diet.
Other types of food that can be fed to your horses are sweet feed and oat feed. These types of foods both have advantages and disadvantages to them. You may also want to add some horse supplements to this food just to make sure it has the optimal amount of nutrition in it.
Grooming your horse each day is also as important as feeding them each day. Daily horse grooming will give you an opportunity to look out for horse hoof problems as well as other issues the horse might have.
It is best to go ahead and wash your horse from top to bottom. After this, you can brush them clean and inspect for any problem signs. It is also a good idea to wash your equine's hooves prior to using a horse pick on them. After your horse's hooves have been picked and washed out, it will be easier to spot hoof injuries.
When you find a potential problem, do not panic. Be glad that you found the problem quickly and take the necessary steps to fix the problem. Take comfort in the fact that you don't have to help your horse without aid from others. Give your vet a call and ask them for help. You'll find that the experts know exactly what to do in these kinds of situations and they will help you and your horse live the happy and healthy life you deserve.
