This trail takes 1.8 miles to complete where it makes a climb to the first city park of Roswell. This trail also offers a secondary access to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area’s Vickery Creek unit.
Starting from the gravel parking lot, move straight ahead to the riverside trail as the path curves right before crossing a small stream. The path then gradually makes an ascent to Sloan Street where adjacent to the street from the trail entrance is a playground.
Curve right from Sloan Street and you will approach The Bricks, which is a housing establishment built in 1839 for the workers of Roswell Mill. Old Roswell Mill’s entrance use to be at Sloan Street until it was redirected around the corner at Roswell Mill. Head back to the parking lot as the path now parallels the stream. As you move along the banks of the river, the right section offers hikers several trails to Vickery Creek.
At 0.4 miles the concrete pathway curves left and start to make an easy climb where you will find a bridge on the right section of this trail crossing the Vickery Creek. The other end of the bridge leads you to the Vickery Creek unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Head back to Oxbo Road crossing a busy street where you will pass by the Hog Walter Creek’s entrance. Swerve left following the path as you move into a forest where the Oxbow Manufacturing Company is located. This building was closed in 1913.
Move past this as the footpath now starts to gradually make a climb parallel to Waller Creek where the dam is on the left. The ascent moves onto the first bridge then curves right at its end. A quick left from that, you will find a set of staircase that proceeds to a parking lot on Oak Street. Follow to make a left turn and move straight ahead where the path connect Hog Waller Park to the picnic area upstream. Continue along the path until you will approach a second bridge that heads you back to the opposite bank of the creek where an ascent leads to the VFW Hall to another Roswell city government building.
Cross the Dobbs Drive swerving to the left of the building until reaching the back of it before turning right as you continue along the trail. Move past two baseball fields as you come across three roads which are for the Oxbo Trail parking lot straight ahead, another parking lot to the left, and a road towards the maintenance shed.
Move straight ahead following an overhead trail marker leading to the trail head as you pass a pine forest. Then the path makes a steady descent to Oxbo Road. Curve right and rejoin to Vickery Creek to the parking area.
If we have learned anything from recent flash floods and other tragedies it is that a reliable radio can save a life. We carry a variety of VHF, UHF and CB radios for sale. We also carry the more powerful 10 Meter Radios for those who feel they may need the extra broadcasting power.
