If you are a homeowner whose stuff is just taking over your house, you don’t need to rent more storage space, or even move. What you need is a little organization to get more out of the space in your home.
Many people make the mistake of going down and renting a storage locker, but in the end you just waste a whole bunch of money renting space to store stuff you likely don’t want or need. Before you do go ahead and rent a storage locker, start with some spring cleaning, and generally get rid of all the stuff you have in your home you know you will never need.
Almost every person or family in the western world has too much stuff, and the first thing you need to do is get rid of all the stuff you know you will never need. Donate it, throw it away, heck burn it for warmth because energy prices are through the roof. Once you have done that, only then can you start looking at how to get more out of your space. At that point, it is time to start thinking about how to better organize your things
The first place you can likely get more storage is in your bedrooms, most specifically, your closets. Once you have cleared out all the extra crap (I am serious, do it), consider some sort of closet storage organization systems. For example, if you have a lot of shoes, you might want to build in some closet storage shelving to store them all. If your clothes are plentiful, maybe you need some new dresser drawers built within your closet.
The kitchen is another place that is typically filled with too much stuff, and once you have cleared out all the extra plates you haven’t used since 1995, considers adding some new kitchen cabinets that take full advantage the unique space constraints of your kitchen. If you have little space, maybe some overhead storage is in order. Or, if you have ample space, some new stylish custom built cabinets can help your kitchen to become more functional.
Next up, the garage, and this is where creating more home storage all comes together. Whether you have a ton of extra stuff that just sits around, tools, extra cars, or other keepsakes, good garage cabinets makes all the difference. It is so much easier to work in the garage when you feel like you own your workspace, and a custom garage storage system will help your things to find their place. Once again, overhead storage cabinets are a great solution, along with custom built draws and workbenches. Start by getting rid of all the clutter, and then build a storage system that allows your stuff to be stored properly, and accessed easily.
Finally, if you have a home office, proper and functional home storage is absolutely essential. There is nothing worse than a home office that is overrun with paperwork, and to take back your space, stay organized, and there is no better way to do so that than with custom file cabinets, overhead storage, and a custom desk built specifically for your space.
