How to update your bathroom in a rented house
Just because you live in rented accommodation doesn't mean you can't have the bathroom of your dreams. Although it may seem to involve hard work and hard earned money, we can prove that just a few small changes will make a huge difference.
For example, just adding a new shower head could result in a more satisfying experience when you wake up in the morning. But if you don't want to pay for a new shower head, you could try descaling your existing one to see if that improves the flow of water. Just soak your shower head in a vinegar solution for a few hours and the limescale should dissolve, giving your bathroom a new lease of life.
Room for reflection
A new mirror can also transform the room. Select a style that matches your ideal bathroom to put a stamp on your home. Choose from modern, clean lines to ornate, baroque frames or illuminated styles to give the room a quick and easy makeover.
Adding free standing furniture can also be a great way to quickly add character. Try strategically placing a decorative chair or linen basket in the room for a quick update. Furniture can be picked up relatively cheaply, either on the high street or second hand, but won't alter the structure of your room, keeping your bank balance and your landlord happy.
Great accessories
Soft furnishings can also be updated inexpensively, but will make a huge difference. A new shower curtain can alter the character of your bathroom, so that you can make the room lighter, darker or even add an element of novelty if you go for something quirky. Decals on shower enclosures are also a tasteful way to add interest, but can be easily removed when you move out.
If your window blinds have been bleached by the sun, so that they now look faded and tired, this is another area to update. Buying a new roller blind can be a simple and inexpensive way to give your bathroom new life. From patterned to plain, blinds can alter a room and give it a lift.
Try removing unsightly bottles and packaging by decanting your toiletries into decorative containers and dispensers too. Not only will this add character, but it will also make the room look more tidy. You can pick up new containers from home stores, or older retro styles from second hand shops and boot sales.
