Avoid inspectors who offer other services other than inspection. – There are inspectors that will also offer you other services such as repairs or they will recommend you a contractor. Even if there are some states allowing inspectors to do repairs, it is best if you will just hire one that have no other business other than home inspection.

Ask if you can be present during the inspection. – It would be best if you would be present during the inspection even for at least half an hour. This span of time will allow the inspector to give you a walkthrough of the inspection he or she is going to do in the house and explain to you which specific areas are covered by the inspection. Being present during the inspection is the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions and know which aspects need to have major and minor fixes.
