When it comes time to replace your cookware, "waterless" stainless steel cookware has many advantages. When you consider the cost, the health benefits and the taste of food cooked in its own juices, steel cookware becomes a great option. Not to mention the lasting beauty.
Cost
Typical Teflon non-stick pots and pans last 3 – 5 years, then get tossed into landfills. I know, I’ve tossed a few myself over the years. A comparably priced set of stainless steel cookware is warranted to last a lifetime. Although there are some over priced sets that can cost up to three thousand dollars, there are other brands constructed of quality material, with a lifetime warranty, that cost two to three hundred dollars. So the value of stainless steel cookware is obvious.
Health
"Waterless" cookware does not require any grease or oil. The food cooks in its own natural juices for a healthier meal. This method of cooking not only eliminates the unhealthy grease and oil, it also allows for more retention of nutrients than other methods. Teflon fuming, peeling and erosion is a serious health hazard, as is leaching from soft metals like copper and aluminum. You don’t have that problem with stainless steel cookware.
Taste
Since "waterless" cooking allows foods to cook in its own juices, instead of grease or oil, it retains all the natural flavors. This cookware heats evenly and quickly so there are no hot spots that you can get with pans of other materials.
Maxam is a good brand to consider for quality and cost. For example, their 9-element set. This is a high quality Steam Control 304 surgical stainless steel set. Constructed of extra heavy surgical stainless steel, the 9-element construction spreads heat quickly and evenly. The Steam Control valves take the guesswork out of healthy cooking. Just start cooking on medium heat (never use high heat) then, when the valve begins to whistle, close the valve and turn the heat down to low and finish cooking. This set also allows you to stack cook. Begin cooking on separate burners and when the valves whistle, you can stack the pans to finish cooking. A set like this is very affordable and you’ll never have to buy cookware again.
When it’s time for you to upgrade your cookware, do your research. Compare stainless steel to non-stick. For about thing same price, you can cook healthier, tastier meals. And your cookware will last a lifetime.
