If you want to make a really original present, the best thing to do is to choose personalised objects, which require more imagination but which are also more appreciated.

In the consumer society, where everybody has everything and birthday or Christmas are non long awaited moments anymore, not even by children, to finally receive what you desire, as most of the times people buy what they want, when this is possible, without waiting for special occasions or having to write a letter to Santa, as people did in the past, you might find it difficult to make a present, because you do not know what to choose, as you risk to buy something that the receiver already has. Personalised gifts can be a good solution to solve this little problem.

When you make a present, no matter if you have to give it to a person you know well or to a person you do not really have a close relationship with, you might have many doubts. Perhaps you do not want to spend too much, but you do not even want to buy something really awful or banal, because you do not want to make a bad impression – in the case you do not know the receiver of your gift very well – or to make the receiver believe that you do not really care for him/her or that you do not know him/her so much – in case of gifts to close friends or relatives. In all of these cases a personalised gift might be the best solution. Because a personalised gift conveys a clear message, a message telling the receiver that the person that has made that present has not entered a shop to buy a last minute present, just to settle an annoying matter, on the contrary s/he has thought about the person s/he had to celebrate, his/her tastes and personality. As a consequence, although you choose a very simple gift, this does not mean that your gift will be seen as banal, and even if it is not a precious or impressive object, the receiver of your gift will certainly be positively impressed by your present, even in the worst case, i.e. in the case s/he does not really like the object you have chosen.

What is certain is that making a personalised gift requires a little effort as far as imagination and capacity of interpreting the receiver’s personality are concerned, and choosing this type of gift could require much time. However, this is not a mission impossible, also because the choices you have at your disposal are really numberless, and with a help from an expert shopkeeper you can make really beautiful and tailor-made presents. The first thing you need to do is thinking about the person that will unwrap your gift, trying to put yourself in her/his shoes, then choose an object and in the end think about its personalisation. Any idea? For a kid that loves music you can choose a t-shirt and have the image of his/her favourite band or a meaningful writing printed on it; for a graduation you can choose a personalised diary; for a friend that is keen on tea and herbal teas you can think about a cup to be personalised with the print of a photo portraying the both of you. Options are numberless, you only need to use a bit of imagination!
