To have the most amount of fun possible on spring break cruises, there are certain essentials that should be packed in everyone's suitcases. The first thing to include for fun student travel is a swimsuit, or even multiple swimsuits. A major part of every cruise is spent lounging by the pool, tanning and sipping a cool drink. Also, cruises often make stops at destinations with gorgeous beaches that should be taken advantage of while the students are there. Do not miss out on the fun or any experience for lack of swimsuit; make sure to include a swimsuit with other clothes. With this it may also be a good idea to include reading material like books or magazines for entertainment while tanning.
Make sure to also bring casual clothes for activities during the day that do not include lounging. Clothes like this include shorts, T-shirts, capris, jeans, and jackets, depending on the climate. Generally, cruises to Europe and Bermuda are a little more formal regarding daywear than other cruises. The student may need to purchase appropriate clothing before leaving for vacation. Shopping deals can cut down on expenses. Some merchants offer ecoupons for their patrons.
Cruises often have one or two formal nights, depending on the length of the trip. A formal night is a night when passengers dress up in formal attire, eat amazing food, and generally commemorate their vacation. Different cruise lines have different guidelines and dress codes for these formal nights. The dress codes range from suit and tie to tuxedos, so check the information provided to find out the dress code. After doing so, make sure to include either a suit and tie or a tuxedo for men, and a formal ball gown or long dress for women. If the right clothes are not brought along for the formal night, there is a risk not being able to get into the main dining rooms for dinner and looking out of place. If the student doesn’t own one, formal clothing can be rented for the duration of the trip or purchased with discount coupons.
Although having the attire to fit the dress code is important, remembering to pack essential toiletries is perhaps even more important. These essential items include toothpaste, a toothbrush, floss, shampoo, conditioner, soap, face wash, a brush, shaving cream, a razor, sunscreen, glasses, contacts, contact solution, and antiperspirant or deodorant. Including things like a liquid laundry detergent stick to quickly remove stains that can't be washed out due to lack of washing machine as well as a sewing kit in case a button pops off of a dress shirt at the last minute is a good idea. A first aid kit with things like ointment and bandages is also a good thing to take along.
Finally, the medicine that could save the trip: dramamine or dimenhydrinate. These are over-the-counter drugs readily available in the United States that prevent nausea and motion sickness. This is to combat any seasickness that may arise. They may not be available elsewhere or may be expensive. It is always smart to include this -- better safe than sorry.
