The kitchen is the heart of every home therefore the choice of the ideal color scheme should be a well thought one. A welcoming color scheme is appropriate but one that will last quite longer should be considered too. This sounds like a simple task but sometimes it can be difficult. Some people prefer having one or two color schemes while others will want different colors for the floors, counters, cabinets, walls and the kitchen accessories.
Four things to Consider:
Theme and Style of your Home
A color scheme that brings out a person's personality is desirable. The overall theme adopted for your home will help decide what color scheme to go for.A country style home will look good on a kitchen that is airy and filled with light. This gives a perfect view especially when enhanced with wood grain finishes. When not sure of the overall color scheme, then going for neutral colors like white is good. The main reason is because it can be changed easily once you decide on a specific theme.
The Longevity of the Color Scheme
Other than giving it a personal touch, the duration of the colors is something to think about. More trendy and vibrant colors will look wow at the beginning but with time, it can look drab. For a permanent home, trying out colors is acceptable but if it is a semi-permanent home ,then colors that will not have a negative impact on the home's resale should be considered. Kitchen accessories can be considered to add detail to the neutral colored kitchen.
Kitchen Maintenance
It is worthwhile to incorporate colors that are easy to clean. These colors should disguise dirt. A neutral color like white is outstanding but having to clean the slightest stain on it can be a daunting task. Colors like grey will hide small stains and keep the kitchen looking great even when the routine cleaning is not done. This applies mostly to the flooring and the counters. Other than choosing colors that will fit in well with the walls and cabinets, a color that will not require constant maintenance is fascinating.
Choice of Colors
One way to add color to the kitchen is through the kitchen cabinets. With neutral walls, the cabinets can take any form. It could be independent of the overall color scheme of the kitchen. Other than the usual wooden color, bright colors like red brightens the room and gives it that classy look. Colorful kitchen accessories could also be used to bring the room together. Multi-colored curtains will spice up the color scheme and decor of your kitchen.
Being the most visited room in the house, it is wise to think carefully on its color scheme. The right colors for the kitchen will automatically create the perfect ambiance for the whole family.
