Being surrounded by the London Borough of Havering to the west and north, the A13 road to the south and the M25 motorway to the east, Aveley is in the near proximity of South Ockendon, Wennington, West Thurrock and Purfleet. Aveley is a part of the Thurrock unitary authority in Essex, and it is also one of the many parishes England has.

Aveley is actually a suburban development that was mentioned in The Domesday Book as Alvileis, Alvilea or Alvithelea, and the meaning of the name is "Aelfgyth's wood clearing". If the population was not very numerous back then, once the Second World War was over, things started to change and the population grew quickly, the town absorbing some of London's overspill. The 2001 census that took place with the help of the Thurrock Council, Aveley had a population of over eight thousand people, together with Uplands. Residents have three different stations located nearby that they can use to travel, which eases their lives a lot. The three stations are Ockendon station, Purfleet station and Chafford Hundred station. This results in much easier travel so that residents can get where they need to go without problems.

Aveley hosts Aveley Footbal Club, a team which plays at the Mill Field. Another sports activity is the Belhus gold course that is situated near the former Belhus Mansion, and a large part of its remaining land from Belhus actually forms the Belhus Woods Country Park.

St Michael's Church in Aveley is located in the High Street, and it is very impressive, with its beauty and well-preserved details. The entire parish is home to many well-preserved buildings and the beautiful architecture is still visible today in all the houses there.

Aveley and Newham Band is a famous band that has a tradition of over 110 years, and success is no stranger for these talented people in the band. The band that can be seen and heard today was created back in 1993, as a result of the merger between two of the most successful local bands, Aveley Bnad and Newham Band. You can listen to them sing and perform amazing songs, and you can visit their website and purchase Aveley and Newham Band recordings.

If you ever decide to visit Aveley, rent a place or move here, you have plenty of reasons to do it. The sights are extraordinary, the ancient thick historical air is still very much present, and the people here are great. There are plenty of one-bedroom or two-bedroom flats or terraces for sale, or you can opt for a semi-detached house in Aveley. Whether you choose Central Avenue, Eastern Avenue, Mill or Purfleet Road, you won't have any regrets, as every part of the town has its own charm and magic that is going to quickly win you over.

All in all, Aveley is a charming place and a part of the Turrock unitary authority in Essex, offering wonderful sites and sights, intriguing Old English history and great homes to live in.
