Today the trend really is to go green. This applies in installing radiator and heating systems too. Since heating consumes a lot of energy and in turn, fuel as well, going green is important to avoid further damage to the environment. But with environment friendly solutions, your radiator and other heating systems no longer have to be hazards to the environment.
Solar Heating Systems
Solar heating systems cost a lot in installation. However, it has very operating costs. In fact, it has almost no operating cost so you will be able to recover your installation costs in less than 5 years. It could produce up to 80% of your heating needs. It would provide hot water and heating through radiant heating. As the name suggests this heating system taps on the sun's heat energy in order to produce heat.
Ground Source Heat Pump
Among the most efficient heating and cooling systems you can use in your home is the ground source heat pump. Heating systems that use ground source heat pumps are cheaper to run as well. Using a specialized heat pump it uses the ground heat which is constant in temperature. It can heat your home during winter and cool it during summer. It only uses a loop of piping which installed ground either under or near your home so you may not have to worry about the radiator. Liquid would generally be flowing in order to heat or cool your home.
The soil is generally warm in winter. Your heating systems would utilize this heat in order to warm your home during this season. On the other hand, the ground is cool on summer so you can use the temperatures of the ground to chill your home during this time as well.
What’s great about this type of HVAC system is that it is completely safe. And since it uses renewable resources, you are not destroying the environment either. By using the ground source heat pump you would save as much as 70% of your usual heating costs.
Hybrid Heat Pumps and Radiant Floor Heating
A certain radiator and heating systems can be efficient in some ways and in other instances not. That is why hybrid heat pumps get a share of demand in the market today. It basically makes use the traditional heat pumps and gas furnaces. Since heat pumps are efficient in the warm weather but not that efficient during the cold weather, gas furnaces are the best supplement to the whole system. With both pieces of in the systems you are assured of seamless switching from heating and cooling functions.
On the other hand, the radiant heating system does its work by circulating heated water using pex tubing on the floor. That is why the heat comes from the floor and it heats up the space from the ground. Because of this you can enjoy toasty warm floors even during cold weather. In the end though, your choice of radiator and heating systems would depend on the existing structure of your home, your budget and your preference.
From all heating appliances, I strongly recommend using central heating system (interesting to know is that the Dutch term is centrale verwarming). You can read some more heating tips
