"Pram" is a confusing word. When you ask people, most of them will say that a pram is a baby stroller. In the earlier times, pram was supposed to be a coach styled product meant to give a new born baby, a ride. Modern parents however take portable, foldable prams which can be fitted inside the boot of the car and use the product for their 2 or even 3 year old babies. Traditional old styled prams are also used nowadays but they are normally imported pieces.

What is Coach built prams?

Coach built prams are traditional wide hoods, big frame and large wheels. The baby is very comfortable in this styled pram as the space is great. Good suspension is a quality of these prams. The baby can lay flat, stretch and sleep facing you. Prams are the most expensive means of transport you can get for your young ones. Normally, the prams last for generations though they are used mainly by those who do not need them to be used, either on public transport or into cars.

Pros:

• For the baby, the ride must be comfortable and strong, sturdy chassis and padded mattress confirm that.

• The prams are easy to push and that is helpful when you have to go for long walks in park.

• The face of the baby is towards you while pushing the pram.

Cons:

• The prams are heavy.

• When your baby grows up, you might need a stroller instead.

A Three-in-one/Two-in-one pram/Stroller

These new styled prams are more suitable for the babies. Often, these have seats which face either towards or away from you. Handy and useful features are available in these such as swivel wheels or enclosed baby carrycots. Unlike the traditional prams, these are foldable and hence can move in and out of the car boot easily.

A Three-in-one pram/stroller-

This model consists of a chassis, a separate carrycot for babies and separate stroller units which have the facility of being attached to the chassis easily.

A Two-in-one pram/stroller-

These contain the chassis annexed with a hood and a seat, which when fully reclined, serves a pram and when upright, plays the role of a stroller.

Pros:

• The position of baby is according to your wish.

• More comfortable ride for babies with the chassis.

• Baby can sleep easily in it overnight and also useful for the day naps.

• These are lasting and good if you are planning for another baby in near times.

• Some high end models have additional features like shopping basket, adjustable handle height and wheel locking system.

Cons:

• These are more expensive than the other type of prams.

• Similar to the traditional one, as the baby grows up, you will find the need of buying a stroller instead.

• These prams are heavy and big and may not fit inside the car boot.

• In crowded areas, the big wheels of these types of prams pose some difficulties which is not the case in prams with small swivel ones.
