Failure to secure the garage will expose the home to thieves that will have the chance to enter your house and steal valuables in it too. There are different kinds of Garage Door Locks. They are:
• Side Door Bolt - This type of lock is the most common type that comes with the purchase of a garage door. Its bolt slides to the side of the door track that locks the door ensuring that intruders could not open it from the outside.
• T-Handle Lock - This type of lock has two sliding bolts to each side of the garage door tracks that couldn't be opened from the outside without a key.
• Electronic Door Lock - This is a keyless type of lock. It requires a password to be entered in a pad provided outside. The other form of a pad is the biometrics type using the fingertips to access the security system that opens it up.
• Deadbolt Lock - this is a key operated type of lock that has its bolts slide into the door frame.
These door locks offer the maximum protection that thieves find it hard to deal with. For example, a homeowner may want to buy a garage door lock with a motion sensor for added security. The motion sensor will detect any movement inside your garage while the locks keep intrusion at bay. Lights that are remotely controlled can be interfaced with your opener for added security.
Digital door locks are now available for the trendy homeowner. It can be customized with your present door opener. A universal remote garage door opener is also available if your lock is not adaptable with the present one. It comes with great designs and finishes too. A weather resistant door lock will adapt to the climatic conditions in your area. If your region is bombarded by a lot of rain or snow, the materials for a weather resistant lock are made of high grade stainless steel and are coated with a weather proofing overcoat. If your garage leads to your home's entrance, a garage door lock is a very important safety precaution to take.
