Garage doors are prone to malfunction due to a lot of factors. It can be seen in plain view how the malfunction affects your door. You can easily detect the cause by analyzing what is happening to the door and the behavior it displays on the garage. Garage Door Troubleshooting can be applied by following these simple steps on how to detect trouble at an early stage with your garage door and addressing them as soon as it is diagnosed to prevent further damage. Here are some of the common malfunctions and how to deal with them:
Garage door's bottom part is angled higher that the side. The causes of this could be shredded torsion spring cable, eroded extension spring cable, or worn out spring cable pulleys. The solution for this is the replacement of these cables that are due or the spring cable pulley as both sides are supported by this mechanism. It will have an uneven closure due to the uneven support of one or two damaged cable or pulley.
Holding the push button constantly is the only way to shut the garage door. The reason for this garage door behavior is the misalignment of the photo sensors. Photo sensors are electronic devices that send signals to the switch when it is activated. If it is aligned, the door will function normally. The solution is to align the photo sensors and clean them. Replace if necessary.
Garage won't stay open. The cause of this is springs that has taken a set. The solution is to adjust the spring or springs.
Squeaking doors. This symptom should be taken cared of immediately. Non lubricated rollers, bearing, and hinges will cause the garage door to make these warning noises. Lubricate them immediately to prevent more damage and have a smooth operation.
The back support for the upper track is broken. The causes of this problem could be broken extension spring or spring cable. The solution for this is to replace the broken cable.
The door has difficulty opening. The probable cause for this is either the tension springs or the extension spring is broken. Replace which spring is broken to have a smooth door open-close functions.
The closing of the door is incomplete and imbalanced. Either of the three or all of them causes this malfunction. The remedy is to replace whichever spring is causing the problem.
The door won't open. This occurrence is probably caused by either a broken torsion spring, broken extension spring, or the track is bent. For the springs, replace them with new ones. If the problem is bent track, straighten, adjust or a track replacement could be due.
A loud bang is heard before the door stops working. This could be the cause of a Broken torsion Spring or a broken extension spring and the remedy for this is to replace all spring s that causes the problem.
