While you try to perform System Restore, you find that it is not working. You are at a loss. This is the ultimate option for you and now if it does not work you need to format your computer. Well, if this is case, you have two more options. You can either call a computer repair service provider or go through this article. Here you will find some useful tips to perform system restore.
What is System Restore
Before delving deeper into discussion, let’s take a look at what is System Restore. This is a component of all the latest Windows operating systems. It is very useful tool for the cases if your computer becomes unstable due to a virus attack or any malfunctioning. Using the System Restore option, you can roll the registry keys and system files back to a previous check point. Whenever any significant change in the file or application structure occurs, System Restore creates restore points on its own. So, it is quite evident how important System Restore is.
Why System Restore Does not Work
It is not uncommon to see that the System Restore is not working in Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP. As a user, you wonder what could be the reason. Well, there are plenty of reasons for which this problem occurs. The first and foremost reason for which this feature does not work is insufficient hard disk space. There should be minimum 200 MB of free hard disk space in order to perform System Restore appropriately. Wondering why this space is required? This space is used for storing the data gathered for the restore points. So, if there is not sufficient space, System Restore will be disabled. Sometimes due to viruses restore points get corrupted. So, it is always recommended to use a powerful antivirus program.
Best Solutions
If the System Restore doesn't work when you boot normally, it is recommended to boot your computer in safe mode and try to perform System Restore. Sometimes it might not work and you may fail to perform System Restore in Safe Mode. The best solution is to make a System Restore disk. If you have such disk, then boot your computer from the restore disk. Make some adjustments in the BIOS and change the boot device priority. If your system boots from the restore disk, it will lead you to System Restore disk menu.
If you find the problem is not resolve, you can boot your computer from your Windows XP CD. If your computer boots up, you will find 'Automated System Recovery' at the screen. Once you choose this option, the system will start scanning and find the required files from your XP CD. Once the process is done, restart your PC. You will find the System Restore is working again.
For resolving any type of PC related issues, consulting a computer service provider is a good option. There are many such service providers for computer repair in Australia.
